So you would like to come play on the equestrian field and don't have a horse.

Here is some ways you can go about doing it.

1) Read the Equestrian handbook. It has safety guide lines for clothing
needed and equipment regulations. It is available online at
http://www.calontirequestrian.org

2) Come and get to know us. We are not stand-offish and wish to be just
as much a part of everything as anyone else. We just have regulations
about mixing horses and the populous.

3) Get involved with us at events by helping out. Become a groundsman
and help reset equipment and help with weapon exchanges. There is always
time keeping and heralding also.

4) Get to know people with horses at the event. The Society rules
prohibit us from renting horses for individuals but that doesn’t mean
that if you don’t have a horse you cannot play with us. There are many
equestrians who will share their horse at an event or will help you get
going in the equestrian activities. However, this is a private treaty
between parties. Please understand that it is the right of the owner to
say no to the use of their horse. If someone has a green broke, young
horse they might say no because the horse is just learning it's self. It
maybe a very high spirited horse that only a few would be able to handle
are just some examples of why someone might say no to you about riding
their horse. Please do not take this to heart because there are horses
on the field that more than likely anyone can ride.

But don’t always expect a free ride. Bringing horses to events is a lot
of work so if you want to ride, an offer to help with the work will go a
long way to a horse owner agreeing to let you.
Most times things are worked out with them for helping them with their
horse. Examples are helping brushing them before and after the days
event. Helping muck out their stall or pen area. Walking their horse
around for a cool down time.

5) Ask questions of equestrians in your area about what we do.
